'Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you until we meet again"

What a privilege it has been to teach and be a part of the whanau at Clendon Park School. I have absoulutly loved building great relationships with the students that I have taught as well as with the parents and teachers. But goodbyes are surely not forever, but simply mean I'll miss you until we meet again. I will surely miss the students from Room 16. I was surprised by the children's kindness and generosity. Such beautiful children to teach with such loving hearts. They had all saved money to get Whaea Kaveeta a beautiful goodbye basket of goodies as well as wrote speeches and done beautiful performances to bid me goodbye. So thankful so them. I will surely miss them, and they will forever be etched in my heart.
Beautiful girls Kodi and Brooklyn gifting me the gift that all of Room 16 children put towards. Just shows how selfless you all are saving your money for juices and putting it aside to buy me a gift. I have surely embedded wonderful values in you all.
My beautiful and wonderful class-Room 16 which I will miss with all my heart. Thank you so much for putting a lot of love, kindness into buying me a beautiful gift.
The middle syndicate all singing me a song to farewell me. I will miss you all very much and your Aroha and hugs towards me.

Learning about Contractions
CONTRACTIONS
In Room 16 we have been learning about different language features. One of those language features has been contractions. This helps the children with not only their reading skills but also their writing. I found that the children are starting to use more contractions in their writing since we had begun learning about them. This is wonderful to see. As a learning activity, the children were given an opportunity to choose a contraction of their choice and then create visual flowers to present their contractions. The children really enjoyed this activity and this activity helped them to be able to visually retain all the new contraction words that they had learnt during our teaching session.

It was such a great experience and the children were so proud of their stars when they had completed them. This was integrated into our maths lessons about patterns and rotations and tessellations.

MOTAT Visit-New Zealand History
This Term in the Junior Syndicate we have been learning about New Zealand History. As part of our Inquiry Topic, we had the great opportunity to go on a field trip to MOTAT to learn more about New Zealand History. I class we have learned about a range of different aspects of history such as housing, technology, costumes, automobiles and how they have changed in regards to past, present, and future.
Room 16 students enjoyed being able to dress up as pioneers. Don't they look dashing?
The Tamariki really enjoyed exploring and looking at the different equipment used in the olden days such as the way that they washed clothes, had a bath. They were very fascinated by how they used to conserve water when having a bath.
The Tamariki listening attentively to the educator, Melissa as she talked to the children about past.
Zephaniah sitting in the Bathtub that they used in the olden days. WOW! look how small it used to be!
Smiley Kepu modelling to us how they used to carry water from the river in the olden days to their homes. Took a lot of hard work didn't it?
Beautiful Brooklyn modelling to us how they used to wash their clothes in the olden days. They used to use a washing board to scrub their clothes vigorously to get them clean.
